One palapa has a bedroom upstairs with a hanging queen size bed and the kitchen downstairs with gas refrigerator and a 3 burner propane stove. Kitchen is beautifully tiled with green and terra cotta tiles typical of "old" Mexico.
The second palapa has a bedroom downstairs with queen size bed and futon that can be used for an extra bed. A hamock room is on the second floor above this bedroom and is a great place to read in the shade with a cool breee in the afternoon.
Bathroom is in a seperate palapa with a garden shower (with hot and cold water) in the rear. The shower has surrounding walls planted with orchids and other tropical plants but is open to the sky.
A short walk down a path leads to a wooded community park with two cenotes large enough for a swim. Great way to cool off on a hot day. Enjoy bird watching over coffee in the mornings. Some common visitors are orioles, chachalacas, Yucatan jays, several types of humming birds, trogans, woodpeckers and many others.
We are off the grid with a solar pump for very clean well water for washing, and bottled water for drinking is delivered for 15 pesos for 20 litres. Our solar electric system is sufficient for lights in the evening, some electric fan use and recharging cell phones or a laptop. Internet service is available with a wireless telcel connection.
This home is not for everyone as it lacks tv and many modern electrical conveniences but if you love nature and the outdoors like we do, it offers a living experience that is hard to find elsewhere.
